Crying Fantasy Friends
Game
Published, Entry in Magazine, San Jenaro Short Game Digest Volume 5
3-6 Players

Adventuring is a good job. It’s outdoorsy, you are your own boss, and you can get rich quick. No one ever talks about the toll it has on you. It isn’t just your body. You body does suffer, but it isn’t just your body. You lose so many people. You see things no one else ever dares. You run where few tread. Your body and mind are hurt. Trying to retire after all of that is hard. Still, despite all the hurt and pain, you try.

Chambara cover

Chambara: A Duel Of Souls
Game
Published
3-6 Players

Jump into your favorite Akira Kurosawa film and explore the dangerous and honorable lives of the Samurai. A game about honor, duty, and dueling, Chambara focuses on being light, fast, and lethal: like the swing of a blade.

Pages from Dungeon Bastards - Redux

Dungeon Bastards
Game
Published
3-6 Players

A crass and crude game that focuses on unruly adventures making trouble in town. Designed for light and silly play, this title is great for those who love irreverence, “murderhobos” , and overuse of the word “crunk.”

Gender 1/2
Game
Complete
3-5 Players

Trigger Warning: Gender Dysphoria

This is a game about exploring the realities of gender dysphoria. It’s arguably a little depressing and honestly not the kind of game someone with dysphoria should play. It’s more for cis people to understand some of the shit we go through.

Justice Friends
Game
Content Locked
3-5 Players

Do you have what it takes to be a real hero? A person of valor and justice who stands up for what’s right in our corrupt, cruel world? Can you best the truly villainous machinations that threaten to overturn our just society? Then don your cape and costume and be the paragon of heroics that this city needs!

A roleplaying game focusing on the Golden Age of Superheroes, Justice Friends uses the Powered By The Apocalypse Engine to deliver the high-flying, heroic action of four color heroes to your gaming table.

Kaiju: The Wreck-Ening
Game
Free To Use
3-6 Players

A parody of World of Darkness. The title focuses on humans who can transform into Kaiju tasked with teaching the Primordial Knowledge. The actions don’t match with their methods and they’re just destructive. Beast came out when I wrote this and, to those who know that AWFUL game, you might realize what I was going for with this one.

Phoenix Rising
Game
Content Locked
3-5 Players

Wacky science fantasy in a galaxy that is as far as it is old. Inspired by Star Wars and its Legends content, this title was made for those who like their scifi to be weird, pulpy, and out there. A simple galaxy creation system merged with a setting that makes off-world travel easy, this game is perfect for galaxy spanning games.

Supplements

Medieval Times
Supplement for Henshin The Sentai RPG
Free To Use

A module for Henshin The Sentai RPG. The idea is a Sentai team set in a traditional fantasy world where the twist is they are being invaded by aliens. Because why not?

Olympus Has Fallen
Supplement for Henshin The Sentai RPG
Free To Use

A module for Henshin The Sentai RPG. Originally submitted for their contest to make the next official module. The concept is a greco-roman inspired sentai team that work with and fight against figures of Greek Myth.

The Samurai
Supplement for 13th Age
Published

A mounted-combat class for the 13th Age Roleplaying System that takes heavy inspiration from ancient Samurai. If you wanted more horse driven battle in your 13th Age game, The Samurai delivers. Similar to a paladin, not too simple, not too complex, and balanced out to fit in easily, The Samurai is a good addition to any game seeking an alternative defender.

The Monk
Supplement for Dungeon World
Published

A playbook for Sage Kobold Production’s Dungeon World, the Monk is a class that many fantasy roleplayers would be familiar with: the master of unarmed combat and wise, enlightened mentor. For those feeling this archetype was missing from their DW game, this class will fit nicely into any game.

Times Are A Changing
Supplment for Hillfolk

A setting guide for Hillfolk to play a game during the Bakumatsu, the peroid directly after Japan opened its borders to the west.

Trainspotting
Supplement for Henshin The Sentai RPG
Free To Use

A module for Henshin The Sentai RPG. I really just made this to try out the “color” swap mechanic. Otherwise, the plot is nonsensical.

Trapped Inside
Supplment for Hillfolk

A setting guide for Hillfolk. This is an odd premise that I’ve always liked for some weird reason. You play a group of researchers who are trapped in a facility overrun with monsters. However, they have a bunker they can hide in. With dwindling supplies, they know they can’t stay there forever.

Venomverse: A Marvel Heroic Roleplaying Event
Supplement

An event to be used with the Marvel Heroic Roleplaying Game. It’s a complete event to be used to play a very mediocre story from the comics.

Incomplete Titles

Tabletop RPGs

Blue Blood
Game
In Development
3-5 Players

A well-sharpened tongue will serve you better than any blade in the world of courtly affairs. Unless, the blade is set to rest in someone’s back. A game of nobles, courtly affairs, and war, Blue Blood is a rules light game where your house tries to with through deceit, politicking, and debate.

Dread Fantasy
Game
Unplayable
3-5 Players

I saw a youtube video where someone did a zombie apocalypse mod in Skyrim and that made me make this thing. It’s supposed to be a game about a zombie apocalypse in a fantasy setting. It’s a mess. Mine it for ideas if you feel inclined.

Divided: A Superpowered Pre-Apocalpyse Roleplaying Game
Game
Incomplete
3-5 Players

The politics are a little embarrassing. This was before I was as wise as I am now. There is a lot of amateurish naval gazing. It’s also before I realized how toxic the “mutant metaphor” is. Frankly, it’s borderline offensive especially when you consider police brutality. Why am I sharing this? I did make it. It is a game. It’s about a police task force made to handle superpowered citizens and the conflict that arises between the powered and non-powered society. It’s rather embarrassing, but it’s worth presenting for archival purposes.

Friendship, Effort, Victory
Game
In Development
3-5 Players

Become a hot-blooded youth and venture through the dangerous journey known as growing up. Based on Shueisha battle manga and Powered By The Apocalypse, FEV revels in the boiling hot world of Japanese, teenage superheroes. Strive towards your dreams!

Godkings: Ascendance and Unending Reign
Game
Outline
3-5 Players

This is more of an outline of a game that never got made. Still, it might give some people ideas. It was basically going to be a game where you are a divine hero who defeats a great evil, only to become that great evil yourself. I think it has some shitty politics in it from my younger days.

Mechcross Your Heart
Game
Incomplete
3-5 Players

This was a project with a friend. We were just making a trpg about playing mecha games using the powered by the apocalypse engine. There was a time where everything I did was PbtA.

Pretty Card Hunters
Game
Incomplete
3-5 Players

I actually plan on finishing this someday and submitting it to the San Jenaro Short Games Digest. This is a game that mixes Cardcaptor and Pretty Cure, which is like chocolate and nutella with strawberries on potato bread. It’s my first time ever using a card based resolution system.

Shaping The Stars
Game
Incomplete
3-5 Players

This was supposed to be published in Short Games Digest Volume 6, but the 2020 busy season drained me creatively and I wasn’t able to finish it. It’s a setting that is a mix of Avatar the Last Airbender and Mass Effect with a strong theme of the ills of colonialism.

To Continue Is Power
Game
Incomplete
3-5 Players

I don’t know what this game is. I forgot I made it. I will include it here anyway.

The Lost
Game
Setting for Fate Condensed
Indevelopment
3-6 Players

A woke LGBT+ trans superhero urban fantasy tabletop roleplaying game using the Fate Condensed engine. Players take on the role of the Awakened, people who have awakened the spirit of rebellion with themselves, as they fight against the Authority Figures who rule Society. The title is heavily focused on metaphors surrounding gender identity and is very loosely inspired by Persona 5. I hope to have it published by the San Jenaro Co-Operative.

Yokai Blade
Game
In Development
3-5 Players

Every adventuring party needs to learn to work together or die. The bonds they forge on the battlefield need to be as strong as steel or their mortal coil will be cut short. This title focuses on the relationships adventurers build and uses cards to allow for the players to slowly grow closer and more comfortable with each other…or screw each other over.

You Can (Not) Win
Game
Incomplete
3-5 Players

A Pbta game inspired by Evangelion. The idea of a game with a strict win condition is an interesting idea. I believe I first played around with that in Divided. Just like Divided, I never finished this and probably never will.

Supplements

13th Age Homebrew
Supplement
Various

I decided against itemizing this list. This is a collection of homebrew for the 13th Age roleplaying system that I made. This includes adventures (mostly incomplete because I never plan), classes (probably incomplete), monsters, etc. My Death To Ability Score system recieved a lot of praise back in the day and my Improved Fighter and Improved Monk are practically mandatory fixes for your game.

Monster Races for 13th Age
Supplement

This was an attempt to make a race book for 13th Age where players could play a variety of “monster” races. It was written from the standpoint of a professor of anthropology who was trying to prove that the so-called monster races of the world were people with their own cultures and lifestyles. Good intent, but awful execution. I never finished it.

Party Games

Save The Date
Party Game

A short party game about playing out a romantic comedy. Kind of meh.

Digimon
Game
Chuubo’s Marvelous Wish Granting Engine
Incomplete

This was intended to be a hack of Chuubo’s to play a game similar to the events of the Digimon anime. It didn’t make it too far and is rather incomplete.

Cortex Prime

Soul Empire
Inspired By Kingdom Hearts
Game Setting
Cortex Prime
Incomplete

A fanfiction mess, Soul Empire is heavily inspired by the crossover centric Kingdom Hearts franchise. The goal of a game of Soul Empire is to get the most nonsensical crossovers from across all of fiction. Why? Why not!

Star Wars Prime: A Cortex Prime Setting
Star Wars
Game Setting
Cortex Prime
Complete

Inspired by West End Games’ Star Wars RPG, this rules lite hack tries to be module, fast and efficient. Honestly, this was more me experimenting with the system than anything else. Take it as you will.

Fantasy Flight’s Star Wars RPG

Legacy Primer
Star Wars
Game Setting
Star Wars: Edge of the Empire
Complete

This was originally a handout for a game of Fantasy Flight Star Wars that I ran. It’s a primer to run in the Legacy Era during the era of Darth Kryat.

Star Wars: Cold War
Star Wars
Game Setting
Star Wars: Edge of the Empire
Complete

This massive game setting details an alternate history where the Clone Wars ends in a draw. Palpatine is dead, but Count Dooku is alive. The Jedi Order is scattered, but not destroyed. The Republic is corrupted from within by fascism. The Confederacy is a fake democracy. It’s actually kind of impressive rediscovering this document. Some friends and mind were originally working on a Clone Wars book for Star Wars Edge of the Empire, but, when the real one came out, everyone left. I took the scraps and made this thing.

FATE

Atomic Effect
Mass Effect
Game Setting
Fate
Complete

A hack of the Atomic Robo RPG to play games in the Mass Effect setting.

Avatar: The Last FATE Bender
Avatar The Last Airbender
Game Setting
Fate
Incomplete

Avatar The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra are some of my favorite series. This document is a hack of Fate Core to play in the setting. At some point, however, it stopped being about making a Fate hack and more about being a setting guide. I really lost my way when making that setting guide. It’s unnecessary. I need to eventually come back and actually finish the actual game elements of the game master’s section.

Dragonball Fate
Dragonball
Game Setting
Fate
Complete

A messy Dragonball hack that frankly isn’t that good. I made it, though, so there is something there.

Eclipse Fate
Eclipse Phase
Game Setting
Fate
Incomplete

My attempt at using Atomic Robo RPG(a setting for Fate) to play Eclipse Phase. It was never finished and a official, better version exists now. Play that instead.

FAE Card Captors
Cardcaptor Sakura
Game Setting
Fate
Complete

I actually got to play this one. It was made specifically for a one-shot. It’s a superlite hack of Fate Accelerated to play Cardcaptor Sakura. Cardcaptor is my favorite magical girl anime. I loved that show as a kid. I watched Tsubasa because of the show, which was not great. Still never saw the sequels, but I should. Got a soft-spot for the awful, original English dub.

Fate of the Straw Hats
One Piece
Game Setting
Fate
Complete

One Piece is a monolith. I fell off the wagon around the timeskip. It’s an amazing series. If you haven’t read this comic, read it. This is a hack of Fate Core to play a game in the One Piece universe.

Halo Fate
Halo
Game Setting
Fate
Complete

These are the notes from a Halo Fate game that died on the vine. It has a complete write-up of all the weapons, enemies, and some key items. It uses Atomic Robo because that was the setting that got me into Fate and finally got me to grok the entire system.

Mass Effect Accelerated
Game Setting
Fate
Complete

A hack of Fate Accelerated to play games in the Mass Effect universe. I loved Mass Effect as a kid, by the way. Bioware RPGs were some of my favorite. When is Jade Empire 2 coming out? Huh?

Other Avatar Fate Hacks
Avatar The Last Airbender
Fate
Complete

Because I couldn’t just make one.

Star Wars FATE
Game Setting
Fate
Complete

A series of Star Wars FATE hacks that were all made for various games that went nowhere. They all follow the same basic idea but with slight tweaks.

Venture Planet
First Arrival Adventure (Incomplete)
Venture City + Red Planet
Game Setting
Fate
Complete

Not sure where this lies in copyright law, but this is a merger of two existing Fate settings. Venture City was a cyberpunk superhero setting and Red Planet was a soviet-sci-fi pulp action series. I smashed them together to make a setting where you are enlighten materialist superheroes coming to Earth to show it a better way through example. This is a game where you punch capitalism in the face and I love it.

Welcome To Eberron
Eberron
Game Setting
Fate
Incomplete

Somehow this actually was found and got a review on rpggeek. I am still not sure how that happened. When I found the rpggeek page, I had a mini-freak out. Not a joke. Anyhoo, it’s a hack of Fate Core to play in the Eberron setting from 3rd Edition D&D. Think steampunk fantasy post-WW1 Europe with robot people. Good shit.

Various

Star Wars Infinities: Anakin’s Reign
Star Wars
Game Setting
Various
Incomplete

Based off the alternate ending of Revenge of the Sith, this setting details an alternate future where Anakin killed both Obi Wan and Palpatine on Mustafar and took over the Empire. It was supposed to have character write-ups for every Star Wars system so as to be inserted into any one of them. That ultimately killed the project. Still, might be fun.

A cringe, edgelord story I wrote in high school inspired by Starship Troopers. It’s supposed to discuss the horrors of life in fascist society, but it’s too tryhard.

Trigger Warning: Homophobia, Transphobia

This is a story about a trans woman discovering herself, learning to love herself, falling in love, and dealing with bigotry. The first five chapters are complete, but it’s only the first draft. I expect heavy revisions later.

Doggo World
Fiction

Incomplete

A speculative zoology sci-fi story. When a crew transporting a shipment of dogs to a colony is set to drift in space for millions of years, the crew awaken to a shocking ecosystem of convergently evolved canines.

It’s Your Fault I’m Not Normal
Fiction
Original
Design Document

I plan to actually write this one day. It’s just a planning document at the moment. It’s a story about how divorce is not bad if you’re really unhappy. How this was inspired by Dragon Ball Z? I’m not sure. But it is.

Fiction
Avatar The Last Airbender
In Progress

Water. Earth. Fire. Air. My uncle used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of civility when the Avatar enforced balance between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. But that all changed when the Water Confederation attacked. Only the Avatar mastered all four elements. Only he had the power to stop the savage waterbenders. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years have passed and the Water Confederation is nearing victory in the War. Two years ago, my father and my uncle left on their most recent war campaigns. We haven’t heard from them since. Some people believe that the Avatar was never reborn into the Air Nomads, and that the cycle is broken. But I am not so weak as to fall into despair. I still believe that somehow, the Avatar will return and squash the Water Confederation.
— Azula

An Avatar: The Last Airbender mirroverse fanfiction. The series follows canon up to the time of Kyoshi. Afterwards, the two timelines diverge politically. This ultimately creates a world where the Water Tribe are the instigators of the 100 year war. Everyone is still the same person as in canon. However, the changes to their upbringings greatly change them.

This is just a outline of an idea where everyone in Marvel was a mutant. It kind of sucks.

Do you know what Transformers needed? Another reboot. Just some ideas on making a setting. Originally for a TRPG.

Various What Ifs
Fiction
Various
Incomplete

I actually do what if ideas often. Why? They are a writing experiment. Playing with a per-existing series and saying “what if” gives you an opportunity to examine the fiction. It’s rarely useful for its own sake, but it’s very useful for applying the lessons to other stories.

What if Ranma 1/2 was a Cal Arts 101 Show?
Fiction
Ranma 1/2
Incomplete

This is a thought experiment I did in 2020 after tax season. I was in a rut and couldn’t write. I used this to get some of my writing juices flowing again. It kind of worked. The general premise was trying to take a 1980’s anime and reimagining it as a 2010s Cal Arts show. The point was mainly to have fun, but also to use this as a chance to analysis both the original work and contemporary works and identify their characteristics.
